Every version of Now or Later, newest first. Settings shows which version this device is running.
1.13 Latest
A welcome for new people. The first time someone opens Now or Later, three short pages explain what Now, Tomorrow and Later are for, how mornings work, and how to sync, restore a backup or add the app to the Home Screen.
It only shows on a device that had no lists yet, so nothing changes if you already use the app. To see it, open Settings and choose Welcome tour.
1.12
A new address. Now or Later now lives at now-or-later.tweetingbirds.com. Opening the old address shows a Move button that brings this device's lists and sync settings along.
If you added the app to your Home Screen or Dock, add the new address too, then remove the old one once your lists show up.
1.11
A new name: Now or Later. It matches the lists you start with, Now, Tomorrow and Later. Your lists, sync and settings are unchanged.
If you added the app to your Home Screen, it keeps its old label until you remove it and add it again. Backups you save now are named now-or-later-…, and older backups still restore.
1.10
Shared lists. Share one list, like Groceries or Household, with someone else who syncs. It shows up on both of your boards, and the rest of each board stays private. Tap a list's ••• menu and choose Share list… to send a link.
Either of you can rename it, recolor it, add, check off or move todos, and the other sees the change. Each person keeps the list wherever they like on their own board.
Leave shared list… takes it off your board and leaves it for everyone else.
1.9
A tidier Settings. Everyday choices come first: what happens each morning, when finished todos move to Done, and how the app looks. Sync and Backups each have their own page, one tap away.
The Sync row shows whose board you're syncing with and when it last synced, without opening it. Tapping the sync badge goes straight to Sync.
Switches for on and off settings, and a Next day or Right away choice for finished todos.
1.8
Invite links. Open an invite link to get your own synced board in one tap, with no address or token to type. Whoever runs the sync service can create invites in Settings.
Add another device with a link from Settings, instead of copying the token by hand.
Delete your synced board from Settings. It removes the board, its nightly copies and its token from the sync service right away.
A new app icon: a notebook page with a red margin and one blue tick. If you added Now or Later to your Home Screen, remove it and add it again to see the new icon.
Counts and other gray text are a little darker, so they're easier to read on light list colors.
Settings marks What's New after an update, until you've had a look.
1.5
Undo. Deleting, moving or checking off a todo, deleting a list, or putting a todo back from Done shows a toast with Undo for a few seconds. On a Mac, ⌘Z works too while it's showing.
Dark mode. Now or Later follows your system's light or dark setting, or you can pick Light or Dark for each device in Settings.
A little buzz when you pick up and drop a todo, on Android and on iPhone with iOS 18 or later. You can turn it off in Settings.
Keyboard shortcuts on a Mac for adding, moving, editing and checking off todos. Press ? to see them all.
1.4
Backups. Download a backup of every list and todo, or a CSV for Numbers or Excel, and restore from a backup file.
Nightly copies. When sync is on, a copy of your board is saved every night and kept for 30 days. Settings can restore or download any of them, and a restore can itself be undone.
Clearer sync status. The badge at the top says whose board you're synced with, how many changes haven't synced yet, and whether you're offline or something needs fixing. If a change you made loses to a newer one from another device, a message tells you.
Search Done. Find finished todos by text, by when you finished them (today, this week, this month) and by which list they came from. The ↩ button puts one back on its list.
1.3
A board left open on one device now picks up changes from your other devices on its own, every 20 seconds and whenever you switch back to it.
Fixed a todo sometimes jumping back to its old list right after you dragged it.
1.2
Each person's board stays separate. Settings shows whose board this device syncs with, and the app stops and warns you instead of mixing two boards together.
1.1.1
The Settings title and close button stay put while you scroll.
The box for adding a todo glows in its list's color when you tap it.
1.1
A new setting moves checked-off todos to Done right away, instead of keeping them in their list until the next day.
1.0
The first version, made to work like a paper notebook.
Three lists to start: Now for today, Tomorrow for the next page, and Later for someday. Rename them, recolor them, reorder them, or add more, up to 10.
Checked-off todos stay in their list for the rest of the day, then move to Done, grouped by date.
Each morning, unfinished Tomorrow todos move into Now. You can turn this off in Settings.
Drag todos between lists by the ⋮⋮ handle, or use the ••• menu.
Add it to your Home Screen and it works like an app, even offline.
Sync between your phone, iPad and computer.
Settings shows the version and build, and offers to reload when a newer one is out.
